Become a Foster

Have you ever wondered how you could help animals in need, without making a weekly or monthly commitment of specific hours? Here in Hillsborough County, there is always a need to rescue homeless dogs and cats and give them a temporary place to stay while they’re searching for their forever homes. We’re searching for some amazing individuals and families who are willing to stand in the gap for these animals, providing them with a safe place and love while they wait. Do you have experience with dogs or cats in your home? Then you already have the skills necessary to support a homeless animal; it involves lots of cuddles and pets! Requirements:
  • Located in Central Florida, ideally within 50 miles of Tampa, Florida
  • Willing to provide food and shelter for a pet in need

Foster families do not need to have a fenced yard or own their own home; we have amazing fosters of all kinds. Can’t foster right now but willing to help in other ways?  We have other volunteer opportunities too, from the comfort of your own home.

How to Become a Foster

Ready to get started?

  1. Fill out the foster application so we have your information in the system.
  2. Register for an upcoming foster orientation – after we receive your application, we will reach out with next steps and invite you to attend a foster orientation.
  3.  Agree to foster an animal – when there’s a dog or cat in need, we reach out to our fosters to ask who can step up to help this animal.  If you’re able to help, we arrange for placement.
